Residents of Silva Homes’ new retirement community at Lawrence Court welcomed the Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest to its formal opening and celebration.
The scheme in Warfield has 65 one and two bedroom apartments development for rent. The opening event was celebrated by residents with afternoon tea and entertainment, as well as a visit from the Mayor.
Alan Ward, Chief Executive at Silva Homes, commented: “We are delighted to have welcomed 65 customers into our new retirement living scheme at Lawrence Court. The standard of the building and finish is second to none, providing exceptionally high-quality affordable homes to rent for older people living in the borough of Bracknell Forest.
“We are grateful to all of our partners and colleagues who have worked hard to help turn this new building into a new community.”
Around 70 guests including Silva Homes’ staff and board members, councillors and partners who contributed to the development and finish of the scheme attended the opening event.
Adeline Thompson, resident at Lawrence Court, added: “We had a really lovely grand opening. The Bracknell Forest Mayor was there, together with an entertainer, plus the buffet was excellent. We all enjoyed the event.
“I'm very pleased with the apartment I chose here, surrounded by trees and a lovely green view. The lounge, dining area, and coffee lounge has been well thought out, and is comfortable and friendly. We also have a laundry, and resident hair dressing facility, once a week, and 'scooter' room, plus indoor refuse room.
“Staff go out of their way to assist and I think both the Silva Homes and Berkeley Homes (the builder) have put a great deal of thought into making our building, pleasant, and comfortable, enabling us to make it into our individual homes. A huge thank you, to everyone.”
Cllr Alvin Finch, Mayor of the Borough of Bracknell Forest, said: “This is without a doubt a wonderful place to live, with its superb décor; the colours are relaxing, warm and homely.
“Silva Homes and all their partners, including Berkeley Homes, have done a brilliant job; this was reinforced by conversations with residents on the day.”
